Under the Section 25 of Water (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, it is mandatory to obtain consent for establishment (prior development of the project) from State Pollution Control Boards for the industries as defined below:
“Establish any industry, operation or process, or any treatment and disposal system or an extension or additional thereto, which is likely to discharge sewage or trade effluent into a stream or well or sewer or on land or bring into use new or altered outlets for the discharge of sewage or begins to make new discharge of sewage”
Under Section 21 of Air (Prevention & Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, it is mandatory to obtain consent for establishment (prior development of the project) from State Pollution Control Boards for the industries operating in air pollution control area.
